When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to name their firstborn son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, royal fans were abuzz with reactions. Some loved it, others were confused. But for comedian Amy Poehler, there was no hesitation. She couldn't help but share her excitement about the name Archie, and she did so with her usual charm and wit.
Amy, who’s 47, spoke to People about the little royal’s arrival on May 6, and she couldn’t have been more thrilled. “Well, what an exciting day for all the Archies out there!” she exclaimed. “And isn’t it refreshing just to hear some good news? Honestly, we could all use a little positivity these days.”
Now, here’s where things get really fun. Amy then went on to explain why she has such a soft spot for the name Archie. “Let me tell you, I am absolutely thrilled with that name,” she said with a laugh. “I’ve been a fan of Archie for over a decade now.” And then came the punchline—she revealed her own son shares the same first name, Archie Arnett, who's 10 years old and the son of her ex-husband, Will Arnett. “So, Archie, welcome to the club, buddy!” she joked warmly.

Meet Amy Poehler’s Family

Amy and Will’s family doesn’t stop there. They also have another son, Abel Arnett, who’s 8 years old. Can you imagine the sibling rivalry between these two little Archies? Probably not much, given how much fun Amy seems to be having with it all.
What’s in a Name? Everything!
As for Meghan and Harry, they didn’t exactly spill the beans on why they chose the name Archie for their baby boy. But according to nameberry.com, Archie is a boy’s name of German origin, and it means ‘truly brave.’ That’s pretty cool if you ask me. Since his birth, Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., has expressed hope that baby Archie might just help mend the family rift between Meghan and the rest of the Markle clan.
“We’d all love to meet the baby and become a part of his life—especially my dad,” Thomas told The Sun. “I’m hoping that becoming a mother will open up her eyes and shed light on what family truly means. Maybe she will see the importance of family now—and open up to my dad and let him be part of the baby’s life.”

Grandpa’s Proud Words
Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, was also brimming with pride about his new grandson. In an interview with The Sun, he said, “I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honor.” He added his heartfelt wishes for Archie, saying, “God bless the child and I wish him health and happiness. My congratulations to my lovely daughter, Duchess Meghan, and Prince Harry. And, of course, God save the Queen [Elizabeth].”
With all this love and positivity swirling around, we can only hope that Meghan, Harry, and Thomas will find a way to bring the family together soon. After all, little Archie deserves to know his grandpa and the rest of his extended family.
