Let’s talk about Jodie Foster, a Hollywood icon who’s been dazzling audiences since she was just 7 years old. Despite a career spanning decades, this legendary actress and director shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, the two-time Oscar winner is more excited than ever about what’s ahead. She’s set on continuing her journey in both acting and directing well into her later years, proving that age is just a number.

At the Los Angeles premiere of The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché on April 9, Jodie, now 56, opened up about her career path. “Right now, I’m really focused on what happens behind the scenes,” she shared with reporters. “I kind of go back and forth. Sometimes I make more movies as a director, and other times I’m more active as an actor.” She went on to explain that this is currently a "director-heavy" phase in her life, but she’s absolutely thrilled about continuing to act as she gets older. “I’m definitely going to be acting a lot when I’m 70 and 80. I can’t imagine stopping either. It’s like breathing—it’s just something I do without even thinking about it. Choosing between acting and directing? That’s not an option for me.”

One of the highlights of Jodie's recent career is her involvement in The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché, a documentary celebrating the legacy of the first female filmmaker. This project resonates deeply with Jodie, who’s carved out her own space in the male-dominated world of film. When asked about her journey in the industry and whether she’s ever felt overlooked as a director, she opened up about her experiences.

  • “Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever felt overlooked—I’m too insecure for that,” Jodie admitted with a laugh. “I wear many hats in this business—actor, director, producer, writer—and each role brings its own challenges. As an actor, I’ve made far more movies and feel much more confident in that space. But as a director, I’m still exploring, still growing. It’s a different journey, and I’m okay with that.”
