Hey there, let’s talk about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's first royal baby experience. It’s been quite the ride, and as expected, it’s been nothing like the path taken by Kate Middleton and Prince William. Since the beginning of their relationship, Meghan and Harry have been challenging royal traditions and creating their own rules. So, when it came to the arrival of their first baby boy, born on Monday, May 6, fans were curious to see whether Meghan would stick to royal norms like snapping those iconic hospital photos, or if she'd do things her way.
A Unique Approach to Royal Traditions
Now, let’s rewind a bit. Kate and William have always been quick to pose for pictures outside the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital on the day of each birth. But Meghan and Harry? Not so much. They decided to keep things a little more private. Instead of releasing photos immediately, they waited two days until Wednesday, May 8, to share their first snaps of baby Sussex. The setting? St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle. And oh, what a beautiful moment it was. The new mom, who reportedly gave birth in a hospital rather than at Frogmore Cottage as originally planned, looked radiant alongside her beaming husband, Prince Harry, as they posed with their precious newborn.

Modernizing the Royal Baby Experience
It’s no secret that Meghan Markle, at 37 years old, has always been about change. A source close to the couple exclusively revealed their plans to Closer Weekly, shedding light on their modern approach to parenthood. “Meghan is adamant that her baby follows her modern approach to life,” the insider shared. “She’s determined that her child will be brought up as an open-minded individual.” And who can blame her? Times are changing, and Meghan seems ready to embrace it all.

Keeping Things Private
While Meghan and Harry have been vocal about raising their child in a less traditional way, their approach to the pregnancy itself was also markedly different from the Duchess of Cambridge’s. Buckingham Palace issued a statement in mid-April, just weeks before Meghan and Harry welcomed their first child. “Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private,” the statement read. “The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.” It’s clear that they wanted to savor this special time without the constant spotlight.

Contrast that with Kate and William, who were much more open about their pregnancies. ITV’s Chris Ship noted that plans for Kate’s third child, Prince Louis, were shared with the media two months before his birth. The same level of preparation happened with Prince George and Princess Charlotte. But Meghan and Harry? They kept things close to the chest, choosing privacy over public updates.
Though we might wish we knew every little detail about their precious little one, we totally get why they wanted to keep things private. Parenthood is a special time, and they deserve to enjoy it without the world watching every move. We can’t wait to watch baby Sussex grow up, and we’re rooting for this modern royal family every step of the way!
