Life has a funny way of showing us that some relationships are meant to evolve, and that's exactly what happened with Rhea Perlman and Danny DeVito. When the couple decided to part ways in 2017, they didn't let it damage their deep connection. Instead, they chose to redefine their bond in a way that works for them both.
During an exclusive chat with Closer Weekly at the premiere of HBO’s Foster, Rhea Perlman, now 71, opened up about maintaining a healthy relationship with Danny, who's 74. “We both agree that we love each other and share a beautiful history together, so why not move forward positively? Life’s too short to hold grudges or let things fester,” she said. “You simply make the decision to carry on with mutual respect and love. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it.”

Family Ties That Bind
Rhea and Danny have three adult children together—Lucy, 36, Grace, 34, and Jake, 31. When asked by People how he defines his current relationship with Rhea, Danny described it simply: “We’re friends. We’re happy. Everyone’s happy.” He went on to emphasize just how close they remain, even after parting ways. “We’re very close,” he added, highlighting the importance of maintaining a positive relationship for the sake of their family.

Collaborating Beyond Romance
Even though their romantic relationship has ended, Rhea and Danny continue to collaborate professionally. “She’s a fantastic actress, and I truly enjoy working with her,” Danny admitted. The duo last worked together in the 2006 film 10 Items or Less. Since then, they've pursued separate yet equally successful careers, with Rhea starring in Hot in Cleveland and Danny taking on roles like his latest in Dumbo.
