As a close friend and co-star on World of Dance, Derek couldn’t contain his excitement when asked about the couple's big news. Over three seasons of working alongside J.Lo, Derek has developed a strong bond with her, and it shows in how genuinely thrilled he is for her happiness.
“Oh, I’m super excited! We sent them a heartfelt voice message, almost like a mini video, congratulating them,” the 33-year-old shared exclusively with Closer Weekly. “And to be honest, I was thrilled to be on the show with Jen. I’m just so happy for them. Beyond ecstatic. It’s like a fairytale come true for both of them!”
Not Just About the Couple—It’s About the Whole Family!
Derek’s excitement doesn’t stop with just J.Lo and A-Rod. He also extends his joy to their blended family of four children. “I’m also so happy for all the kids, too,” Derek said. “They are a big, loving family. It’s just amazing to see how much love they share. They’ve created this beautiful, harmonious household, and it’s truly inspiring.”

We go out all the time,” Derek revealed at the Variety and Women in Film event in September 2018. “We’ve been on yachts, had dinners, and shared some unforgettable moments. It’s been an awesome ride so far.”

He’s a proud supporter of The Future of Good, a campaign by U.S. Cellular that highlights 16 kids who are making a difference in their communities. “I may not know exactly what my career will look like in the future, but one thing I know for sure is that I’ll always be serving others in some way,” Derek told Closer. “That’s what drives me. It’s about giving back and making an impact, no matter how small.”
