At 58 years old, Julia sat down with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America and shared how her sons, Henry, 26, and Charlie, 21, gave her the strength she needed during her fight.

How Her Sons Were Her Anchor

Let me tell you, when life throws you a curveball, having someone by your side can make all the difference. Julia opened up about how her children were her rock throughout her battle with breast cancer. “My children were incredible. They really held me up,” she said with heartfelt emotion. After being diagnosed in September 2017, Julia underwent several rounds of chemotherapy to combat the disease. As she neared the end of her treatment, her boys decided to do something truly special—they created a heartfelt video of themselves lip-syncing to Michael Jackson’s iconic song “Beat It.”

The Sweet Gesture That Kept Her Going

Julia captioned the video on Instagram, saying, “My beauty boys @HenryHallMusic [and] @Charlie_Hall made this for me today, my last day of chemotherapy.” She added, “Pretty swell, right? Ain’t they sweet?” During her conversation with Robin on GMA, Julia explained how this thoughtful gesture from her sons gave her the strength to keep pushing forward. “After my boys did this song, which of course made me cry and feel good all at the same time, then people from work, from Veep started doing exactly the same thing so it helped me get through chemotherapy in a big way,” she shared with a beaming smile.

Now, if that’s not the kind of love and support we all dream of, I don’t know what is. It’s moments like these that remind us how important family is during tough times.

Julia’s Journey Back to Health

Thankfully, Julia says she’s feeling much better now and is ready to dive back into her career. “I’m completely back,” she told Robin with confidence. But she’s not rushing things. The Emmy-winning actress is taking it slow to avoid stressing herself out. “She paces herself,” an insider told Closer Weekly about her return to work. “She’s been writing, acting, helping friends out with their projects and doing table reads.”

Julia’s final season of the hit HBO show Veep is set to premiere on Thursday, March 31. While fans are understandably sad to see the show end after seven seasons, Julia is thrilled to return just in time for the finale. “She’s feeling good!” the source confirmed. “She’s thrilled—and very grateful.”
