It’s hard not to feel a sense of nostalgia when you think about Lisa Whelchel. Fans have been a part of her life for decades. At just 12 years old, Lisa found herself stepping into the spotlight when Disney recruited her to join The New Mickey Mouse Club as a Mouseketeer. Her journey only continued to grow from there, especially with her unforgettable role as Blair Warner on Facts of Life, which solidified her as a pop culture icon. Now, four decades later, Lisa is back on television, celebrating pop culture in a brand-new way by connecting with the people who cherish it the most: collectors.

Collector's Call, the first-ever original programming for MeTV, is set to captivate audiences. Speaking to Closer Weekly, Lisa shares her excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled! I’ve always been a lifelong learner, and I homeschooled my kids, so I understand the power of hands-on learning. Let me tell you, I’ve learned so much just by seeing these incredible collections. It’s been an eye-opening experience!”

Exploring America's Passion for Collecting

In the first season of Collector’s Call, Lisa embarks on a nationwide adventure, meeting collectors who have dedicated their lives to amassing some truly remarkable collections. From TV and film memorabilia to rare books and historical artifacts, these enthusiasts have amassed treasures that span a wide range of interests. Some collectors have even achieved recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records for their impressive collections. Whether it's a trove of presidential memorabilia or a room filled with vintage movie posters, each collection tells a story and reflects the unique passions of its owner.

Memorabilia and Moments: Lisa's Personal Connection

For Lisa, this journey into the world of collecting has been a deeply personal one. She tells Closer, “There was even a website devoted to Blair’s hair back in the day!” So, when she met a collector who specialized in presidential locks of hair, Lisa couldn’t resist contributing her own piece of history. “I just cut off a little lock of my hair to add to his collection!” she jokes. But beyond the memorabilia, it’s the people she’s met that have left the biggest impression. “What I didn’t realize was that the most fun would come from the collectors themselves. As you can imagine, anyone who’s passionate about one specific thing is bound to be a character, and that has absolutely proven to be true!”

Join the Adventure: Tune in to Collector’s Call

Don’t miss out on this unforgettable journey through treasures past when Collector’s Call premieres Sunday, April 7, at 10 p.m./9c on MeTV. The special broadcast follows a three-hour marathon, Lisa’s Call, in honor of the 40th anniversary of Facts of Life. The marathon features Lisa’s five favorite episodes, giving fans a chance to revisit the magic that first made her a household name. Whether you’re a die-hard collector or simply a fan of great storytelling, Collector’s Call promises to be an experience you won’t want to miss.
