When The View kicked off its 22nd season on September 4, there was one notable absence from the co-hosts' table—Meghan McCain. Fans were understandably concerned, especially after the passing of her beloved father, John McCain, who fought a courageous battle against brain cancer and passed away on August 25 at the age of 81. However, it turns out Meghan was simply taking some well-deserved time away from the spotlight to process her grief and honor her father's legacy.

Joining Her Co-Hosts on The View
Meghan will rejoin her fellow co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and newcomer Abby Huntsman, on October 8. When The View returned to television in early September, Meghan's co-hosts paid tribute to her and her father, offering touching words about their relationship. Abby Huntsman, a former co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend, shared her admiration for Meghan, saying, "Meghan is like a sister to me, and this was the hardest thing she has ever been through. Her dad was her best friend, her dad was everything. I was so proud of her— it was like her dad had passed the torch to her. She was now speaking for the family."
Remembering John McCain's Legacy
Abby also reflected on John McCain's remarkable life and legacy. "He was willing to give his life for this country," she said. "And that is a love for this country that very few people have." Sunny Hostin, who attended John McCain's funeral, spoke about the powerful eulogy Meghan delivered at the service. "I don't think I've ever heard a group of people applaud at a eulogy," Sunny remarked. "It was just so moving to see our friend and our colleague rise to that occasion. We all know she's devastated by the passing of her father... but my God, she showed everyone how tough she is."

Whoopi Goldberg's Reflection on Missing the Funeral
Whoopi Goldberg expressed her deep regret over not being able to attend John McCain's funeral due to a flight issue. "It was one of the biggest devastations. John and I, as crazy as this sounds, we were friends. We’ve been friends since Meghan was little. The plane had some issues and it was going to take them two hours to fix it. I hate to fly but I was willing to fly because I needed to get there. So I’m so crazed that I missed it," she shared. Fans can't wait for Meghan to return to The View and bring her unique perspective and strength back to the table.
