Paulina Porizkova Speaks Honestly About Aging
Supermodel and icon Paulina Porizkova is breaking the silence on a subject most women prefer to avoid: aging. In a candid interview with NewBeauty magazine, the 53-year-old star opened up about the challenges of growing older in the spotlight. With her trademark honesty, she shared her raw emotions about navigating life as a public figure.
“It’s tough. When your entire life has revolved around looking good, aging publicly is no walk in the park. It’s not for the faint-hearted,” Paulina confessed in the magazine's Fall/Winter issue. Her words resonate deeply with anyone who has ever felt the pressure to maintain a youthful appearance.
The Pressure of Being in the Spotlight
Paulina also revealed that she sometimes feels envious of her friends who don’t live in the public eye. For them, aging is a more private journey, free from the relentless scrutiny that comes with fame. “It’s not like going to war every day, as it is for me,” she admitted, highlighting the unique struggles of being a model and actress in a world obsessed with youth.

Finding the Right Balance
As a self-proclaimed feminist, Paulina also discussed the delicate balance she tries to maintain between looking her best and staying true to herself. “You’re not quite sure what age you look, or you let yourself age and then you have to battle with your ego,” she explained. The pressure to stay youthful in the public eye can be overwhelming, especially when critics are quick to point out perceived flaws.

Paulina elaborated on the reasons why public figures might feel compelled to look younger, citing comments like, “‘People are making fun of what I look like now.’ Or, ‘Hey, look at this beautiful woman who turned into this hideous old thing.’” These harsh judgments only add to the stress of aging gracefully in the spotlight.
She admitted, “It makes me feel like I’m in between two worlds because I do want to be pretty and I don’t want to look old, and at the same time, I would like to be seen as pretty for who I am and not for fixing what looks old. I’m really insecure about it.”
On Fillers and Botox
When it comes to cosmetic procedures, Paulina has yet to take the plunge into fillers or Botox. Her reasoning is simple: she doesn’t like when people’s faces don’t move naturally. Although she has tried Ultherapy—a non-invasive treatment that heats tissue to tighten skin—she wishes more models and actresses would be upfront about their use of fillers and Botox.
“I really love it when women admit to doing them! I hate, personally, when somebody has obviously had things done but they claim the reason they look so good is yoga and water,” Paulina emphasized. “I get a little resentful. I think, ‘You’re lying.’ That’s not fair because, as models, we represent an idea of femininity, and if you are lying about it, then the girls who look up to you are being misled.”

Beauty Beyond the Surface
Despite the pressure to maintain her looks, Paulina is determined not to let her beauty define her. “I don’t want to have to go to war with my looks. And I don’t want to start trying to look 20 years younger,” she expressed. “I’m constantly battling with myself internally, saying, ‘Come on, beauty is not that important! Let go of being so vain and focus more on the things you can do!’”
Her message is clear: beauty is more than skin-deep, and embracing who you are is far more important than chasing an unattainable ideal.
