Savannah wanted to ensure Vale didn’t feel like she was missing out on some grand party while she was at school. So, she painted a picture of their home life during Vale’s absence. “She had total FOMO—Fear Of Missing Out. She thought that this whole party was going on without her while she’s off at school,” Savannah explained with a laugh. “I told her, ‘Nobody will be here. You’re not missing anything.’ And then I added, ‘Well, Daddy will be at work, and Mommy will be at work, and Charley’s going to go to preschool too.’”

Why Vale’s Summer Was So Special

It’s easy to see why Vale might dread returning to school. This summer was packed with fun and family moments that made staying home seem irresistible. Vale enjoyed the warm weather, begged her mom for ice cream (who can blame her?), and celebrated her birthday not once, but twice—first with her immediate family and then with her best friend Poppy Hager, who also turned three years old. These memories surely made the idea of leaving home for school a tough pill to swallow.
