Let me tell you a story about Burt Ward, a guy who became a household name in 1966 when he donned the cape and mask to play Robin in the iconic TV series Batman on ABC. Over the course of three wildly successful seasons, Burt not only became a beloved figure on our screens but also carved out an impressive career with over 40 acting credits under his belt. But that’s not all—Burt also ventured into the world of visual effects by founding his own company in 2001. Along the way, he also became a devoted father to two amazing daughters, Lisa Ann Ward and Melody Lane Ward.
Before he became the Boy Wonder, Burt had a pretty interesting backstory. Growing up, he performed in Rhapsody on Ice, an ice-skating show owned by his father. At the same time, he was juggling studies in acting at UCLA and helping his dad in the real estate business. Then came the call that changed everything: the chance to star as Robin alongside Adam West. From that moment on, Burt was officially a star, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Speaking of Adam West, Burt had nothing but glowing words for his on-screen partner. In an exclusive interview with Closer in January 2022, he shared, “He and I got along incredibly well. Within five minutes of meeting, the two of us were laughing so hard they had to tell us to quiet down.” Burt went on to say, “We just clicked. He was the funniest person I have ever met in my entire life.”

Now, here's the part that might surprise you: the same year Burt made his debut as Robin, he also became a dad for the first time. He and his first wife, Bonney Lindsey, welcomed their daughter, Lisa, in 1966. Although their marriage ended in 1967 after two years, Burt’s journey as a father was just beginning. Fast forward to 1990, and Burt married Tracy Posner. Their daughter, Melody, was born in 1991, adding another beautiful chapter to his life.

Tracy and Burt are more than just a married couple—they’re also business partners. Together, they run the non-profit Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions, which is all about giving homeless dogs a second chance at life. They’ve even started their own pet food company, proving that they’re not just in it for the love, but also for the greater good. Burt had this to say about their partnership: “We have an unusual thing because we are together 24 hours a day. But, we love each other very much.” He added, “We don’t always agree on everything, but we do think alike a lot of the time. I’ll start a sentence, and she finishes it. We support each other, and we believe in each other.”
Even after all these years, Burt still feels incredibly fulfilled by his life and career. He’s now a proud grandfather and a timeless pop culture icon, over five decades after first stepping into the spotlight. In a September 2002 interview with CNN, he said, “I’m very, very happy. I have a wonderful family, I have the most wonderful people I work with.” He concluded, “I’m the kid in the candy store.”
So, let’s take a closer look at Burt’s two incredible daughters. Keep scrolling to meet them!
Lisa Ann Ward
Burt’s eldest daughter, Lisa, has a heart full of compassion and a passion for helping animals, just like her dad. She grew up watching her father on TV and was absolutely amazed by his acting chops and dedication to the role of Robin. In a January 2014 interview with 13th Dimension, Lisa shared, “My Dad would have already been a superhero in my eyes even if he didn’t play one on TV, as probably most little girls love their daddies, but to actually know he was one made me very proud and I felt very protected!”
She went on to say, “Also, meeting all of his fans, even today, they are so kind, loving and loyal. Hands down, one of the best parts is knowing that others appreciate and love my dad almost as much as I do!” Lisa also mentioned that she was "starstruck" around Adam West and has cherished meeting his children a few times. She continues to collect memorabilia from the Batman series and is thrilled that her own children are now old enough to appreciate their grandpa's coolness. “I’m grateful that my young adult children, 20 and 22, are getting to witness it!” she said.

Melody Lane Ward
Burt’s youngest daughter, Melody, has been deeply involved in her parents’ dog rescue efforts since she was just a toddler. When the family moved from Los Angeles to Riverside County, they made it their mission to focus on helping dogs in need of homes. While Melody has stayed out of the spotlight for most of her life, she’s been there to support her dad at several events and appearances.
