When Eva Longoria welcomed her first child, son Santiago Enrique Bastón, in June 2018, her world changed forever. Together with her husband, José Antonio “Pepe” Bastón, she embarked on an incredible journey of motherhood that she’s embraced wholeheartedly.

Eva and José’s love story began long before their wedding day. The couple got engaged in December 2015, and just a few months later, they tied the knot in May 2016. Their wedding took place in the picturesque town of Valle de Bravo, Mexico, at José’s home. It was a celebration filled with love, laughter, and surprises.

Recalling the unforgettable day, Eva said, “There were so many memorable moments that it’s hard to keep track. By the time the tequila kicked in, it all kind of blurred together! But Pepe kept surprising me throughout the night—unexpected singers, surprise videos, little surprises every half hour. I was like, ‘I can’t handle any more surprises! My heart is going to explode!’”

Welcoming Santiago: A New Chapter in Eva’s Life

In December 2017, Eva announced the exciting news that she was expecting her first child with Pepe. At 43 years old, she welcomed Santiago into the world, marking a new chapter in her life as a mother. Eva has been open about what it means to become a parent later in life.

“Santiago was meant to be with me at this stage,” Eva shared with Parents Latina in August 2019. “I’m more patient now, and even though it might not seem like it, I don’t work as much. I’ve learned to prioritize family over everything else.”

From the very beginning, Santiago has been a constant presence in Eva’s life. “He’s with me all the time!” she told People, just 10 months after his birth. “If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see that he’s on set with me, in meetings, everywhere I go.”

For Santiago’s first birthday, Eva went all out, throwing a memorable celebration at Disneyland. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “Every laugh and giggle that comes out of your mouth and every smile that crosses your face has been pure joy. Thank you for choosing me as your mamá! I love you, amor mio! Happy Birthday, Santi baby!”

While Santiago is still young, Eva has already expressed her support for him pursuing acting in the future. “Santiago comes to work with me and he’s such a sweetheart—he doesn’t cause any trouble,” she said in a December 2018 interview with People. “He watches me direct and pays close attention. If he decides to become an actor when he grows up, of course, I would support him!”

In June 2023, Eva revealed on The Kelly Clarkson Show that Santiago’s first language is Spanish. “I didn’t grow up speaking Spanish,” she admitted to host Kelly Clarkson. “But we lived in Mexico City, and I was shooting in Spain. He’s super fluent and corrects me all the time—with attitude, of course!”

During an appearance on Today in June 2024, Eva gushed about how cultured her son is. “Oh my gosh, I love that he’s always with me when I’m working,” she said. “If we’re in Spain, we all go to Spain. If we’re in Rome, we’re all in Rome. He’s very cultured.”

“‘Oh, Mom, can we have macaroons if you go to Paris?’ ‘We can eat jamón when we’re in Spain,’” she added. “I just love how global he’s growing up and how he understands and appreciates other cultures and languages. It’s truly special.”
