Details on 'Restoring Galveston's' Michael and Ashley Cordray's House

Let me introduce you to Michael and Ashley Cordray, the dynamic duo behind the hit show Restoring Galveston on Magnolia Network. This talented couple spends their days breathing new life into historic homes in Galveston, Texas. Originally known as Big Texas Fix, the show quickly became a smash hit, captivating audiences with their incredible transformations. When they're not filming, Michael and Ashley enjoy quality time with their two kids at their cozy Galveston home, brainstorming their next big project.

How It All Began: Love and Renovation in College

Michael and Ashley's story feels like something out of a movie. They met while studying at Texas A&M University at Galveston, where their shared passion for history and design sparked a connection. In 2011, they started dating and soon realized they wanted to turn their love for historic preservation into a career. Ashley recalls their whirlwind start with a laugh: “After just two months of dating, I convinced Michael that we should move to Galveston and buy a home. The very next day, we found the perfect house. We’ve always lived life on the edge, making decisions in the moment.”

A Leap of Faith: Building a Business Together

Fast forward to 2014, and the couple tied the knot. The following year, they launched their real estate company, Save1900, dedicated to restoring Galveston’s historic homes. According to their website, their mission is to preserve “the architecture and style that evolved in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.” Their passion and expertise didn’t go unnoticed. Producers from HGTV’s sister network, DIY (now Magnolia Network), saw their potential and offered them their own show. Ashley reflects on their journey: “Our life has transformed because of the crazy risks we took. Every step was uncertain, but those risks shaped our path. Galveston has been undervalued for so long, but it was only a matter of time before people realized its potential.”

Since 2019, Michael and Ashley have become household names in the home renovation world. While most of the homes they restore eventually hit the market, there are a few they just can’t part with. “Last season, we kept two homes: the one we live in now and the Kettle House,” Michael shares. “For season two, we decided to keep an old 1920s corner store and turn it into a vacation rental. It’s exciting to share our passion with others in this way.”

    Opening Their Doors to Fans

For fans of Restoring Galveston, there’s an opportunity to experience the Cordrays’ magic firsthand. Several of the homes they’ve renovated are now available as Airbnbs. These rentals reflect the timeless elegance and charm that define their signature style. Whether you’re staying in one of their vacation homes or simply admiring the beauty of their own 1887 dreamhouse, you’ll feel the love and dedication they pour into every project.
