She starts her day with the show, and I’ve started watching it too. You know, when we were filming, we were so busy working on it that I never actually watched the episodes as they aired. By the time we got home, we were exhausted—eating dinner, learning lines, and preparing for the next day. So, I never really saw the show in its entirety. But now, I’m catching up, and it’s been such a joy to revisit it.”
A Sentimental Journey Through Time
So, what’s it like for Elinor to step back into the world of Father Knows Best after all these years? “It fills me with so much fondness,” the 83-year-old actress reflects warmly. “Fondness for the entire cast and crew—we were like a second family. We genuinely cared for each other, and those memories are incredibly sweet. Of course, there were challenging days, but overall, it was a wonderful experience. When I was younger, I was so hard on myself. I didn’t watch the show because I was too critical, and it made me uncomfortable. But now, I can watch it with a more forgiving eye. I’ve learned to appreciate the work we did and the impact it had on so many people.”
