Cristy tied the knot with her longtime love, John Hawkins, back in November 2023. The couple celebrated their love in a picturesque ceremony at the historic Packard Proving Grounds in Michigan.

Love in Motion: Cristy and John’s Automotive-Inspired Wedding

For those who don’t know, Cristy and John share a deep passion for cars. That’s why they chose the Packard Proving Grounds as the backdrop for their special day. This iconic location, steeped in automotive history, was the perfect setting to celebrate their love. In an interview with People, Cristy shared her excitement about the venue: “We took one look at the Packard Proving Grounds and we were like, ‘This is it. This is the place. This is perfect for us.’ It just oozed automobilia and history and had this amazing retro, eclectic car vibe. We fell in love with it on the spot.”

Her Dream Dress: Classic with a Peekaboo Twist

Let’s talk about Cristy’s stunning wedding gown! She opted for a sleek satin dress from Revolve, paired with a pair of Jimmy Choos. The dress was a dream come true for Cristy, who described the moment she tried it on: “As soon as I put it on, I knew it was the one. It had this really beautiful slit up one of the legs, but the pleating of the skirt hid it so well. You had that opportunity to have that clean, classic A-line look but also show just a little leg, a little peekaboo, if you wanted.”

A Short and Sweet Ceremony with a Big Celebration

The ceremony itself was short and sweet, allowing the couple to focus on the reception with their 160 guests. Cristy and John, who works as a General Motors engineer, served up a feast featuring New York strip steak and an array of delicious sides. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, they indulged in an assortment of cupcakes, adding a fun and modern twist to their celebration.

The couple’s journey to the altar wasn’t without its challenges. Cristy and John got engaged just before Christmas in 2022, after eight years of dating. However, during the wedding planning process, Cristy faced a major health setback. She was diagnosed with Graves’ disease and thyroid eye disease, which required two eye surgeries. Despite these hurdles, Cristy was determined to have the wedding of her dreams. “We considered postponing, but then we decided, ‘We’re doing this. We’re going to do this wedding regardless of how I look or if I feel well enough. We’re making it happen,’” she said. “Nothing was going to take this day away from me. I thought, ‘This is my day!’”

In a candid Instagram post, Cristy opened up about her health journey. She wrote: “It’s been an extremely difficult battle to decide how, if, when I would share my journey [with] anyone outside of my close friends & family. I will live with both of these diseases the rest of my life, I’m moving closer towards remission and out of the ‘active phase’ every day, but I’m not there yet.”
