Let’s talk about Jaclyn Smith, shall we? The iconic actress has always been one to stay busy, even during the toughest of times. "During the pandemic, we remodeled every single room in our house," she shares, referring to her stunning Beverly Hills Georgian Colonial home she's called home since 1991. "We added a cozy fireplace, a charming porch, and even used my Inside Out Performance upholstery fabric for the outdoor furniture. It’s all about making a house a home, right?"

For those who don’t know, Jaclyn Smith, now 78, became a household name as the private investigator Kelly Garrett on the legendary series Charlie’s Angels in 1976. After the show wrapped up, she transitioned into other acting roles, but her real success story lies in her journey as a celebrity brand. "I owe everything to Charlie’s Angels. It opened so many doors for me," she says with gratitude. With an estimated net worth of $150 million, Jaclyn proudly shares, "I was the first actress to launch her own line, back when everyone just lent their name to a product. People told me it wasn’t a good idea, but looking back, it was probably the best decision I ever made."

Growing up in Houston, Jaclyn’s life revolved around dance, but her striking beauty and those luscious dark locks made her the perfect model for brands like Breck, Wella Balsam, and Max Factor. These TV ads eventually led to guest appearances on popular 1970s shows like McCloud and The Rookies, ultimately landing her the role that would change her life forever—Kelly Garrett on Charlie’s Angels. "Back then, you didn’t really have a personal life," she recalls. "You’d come home, eat dinner, study your lines, and hit the sack."

  • But Jaclyn has never shied away from hard work. Born to a dentist and a mother who dreamed of designing fashion, the actress credits her parents for instilling in her a strong work ethic and a keen eye for style. "I love working," she says. "There’s something so fulfilling about tackling different challenges and staying busy."

A New Chapter: Jaclyn Smith's Fashion Venture

Back in the mid-1980s, Jaclyn initially turned down an offer to create a clothing line for Kmart. "I didn’t shop there," she admits. "Fashion has always been a passion of mine, but designing for the mass market seemed overwhelming at the time."

Eventually, she pushed past her doubts and embraced the opportunity. "My advice? Go toward your fears, the unknown. That’s where the real growth happens," she shares. And when it comes to business, she says, "I have no regrets. Every decision I’ve made has been a learning experience."

Her first collection of women’s apparel hit stores in 1985, just as she was diving into motherhood with her children, Gaston, now 42, and Spencer, 38. "My work has always been exciting, but family comes first," she emphasizes. "Being able to balance my career with raising my kids has been a true blessing."

    Jaclyn Smith: Building an Empire

Today, Jaclyn’s empire spans clothing, perfume, fabric collections, wigs, and even a skincare line she created alongside her husband, Brad Allen. "I trust Brad completely, and he’s taken the beauty line to the next level," she says, reflecting on their partnership. Jaclyn met Brad, a heart surgeon, when he operated on her father. "My mom didn’t want me walking to the parking garage alone, so Brad would escort me," she recalls with a smile. Their romance blossomed over seven years before they tied the knot in 1997.

"Brad and I share similar values and backgrounds. Spiritually, we’re aligned," she says. "He’s incredibly kind, and I saw a purity in his heart that I admired." Despite some challenges in her past relationships, Brad has always been supportive. "Brad is very low-key and lets Jaclyn be herself," a close friend of the couple tells Closer. "They’re a perfect match, and neither is threatened by who earns more. He’s focused on his career, and she’s thriving in hers."

Nowadays, Jaclyn enjoys good health, a thriving business, and a loving family. Both her children are happily married, and she’s the proud grandmother of three adorable granddaughters. "I love spoiling them!" she gushes. For granddaughter Wren’s first birthday, Jaclyn even brought miniature ponies to the party. Last March, she and Brad took daughter Spencer and granddaughter Bea on a memorable trip to India. "We love exploring new places," she says. "Traveling is one of my favorite things to do."

Recently, Jaclyn’s been active on Instagram, showcasing her latest fall collection. "I’m thrilled to present this new line to my loyal customers who have grown up with me," she says. "Some people ask, ‘Why don’t you relax and focus on family?’ But the truth is, I’m at my best when I’m working. Family will always be my top priority, but somehow, you manage to make it all work."
