Life can throw some pretty tough challenges our way, but having the right people by your side can make all the difference. When legendary pianist and composer John Tesh was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer back in 2015, he knew he could count on his family to be his rock. In a heartfelt interview with Closer Weekly, John opened up about how his wife, Connie Sellecca, and their daughter, Prima Tesh, were there for him every step of the way.

Family Support During Tough Times

John, now 67, shared how much his wife meant to him during this difficult chapter of his life. "They were great," he said, emphasizing the strength and unwavering support of his loved ones. "My wife, she was just there by my side through the whole thing," he explained. Despite moments when John didn’t want his kids to see him unwell, they remained incredibly supportive. That kind of love and care can be a lifeline when you're facing something as daunting as cancer.

Embracing Life's Challenges

John, who is also a proud stepdad to Connie’s 38-year-old son, Gib, from a previous marriage, admitted he felt a "great deal of guilt" because his family "dropped everything" to ensure he was okay. After undergoing multiple rounds of chemotherapy, John emerged cancer-free. Reflecting on his journey, he shared how it taught him a lot about the nature of suffering. Life, he learned, isn’t always easy, but embracing its challenges can lead to growth and happiness.

“As Jordan Peterson says, life is suffering. If you can’t embrace that and get to the other side of it, then you’ll really never be happy,” John explained. “Whenever anything bad happened to me, I was always like, ‘Why did this happen to me?’ But once you understand that suffering is part of life, you’re able to put it in perspective and move forward.” He believes that going through his cancer treatments gave him a new outlook on life.
