Beloved television star Leslie Jordan wasn’t just a household name; he was a cherished family man who left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Known for his role in Call Me Kat, this legendary actor passed away on October 24, 2022, at the age of 67, as confirmed by Closer Weekly. His legacy of laughter and love lives on through his family, friends, and fans worldwide.
"The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan," said his representative, David Shaul, in a heartfelt statement to Closer Weekly. "Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times. What he lacked in height, he more than made up for in generosity and greatness as a son, brother, artist, comedian, partner, and human being. Knowing that he left the world at the height of both his professional and personal life is the only solace one can have today."
Meet Leslie Jordan’s Sisters: Janet and Jana
Leslie was the eldest sibling in a close-knit family of three kids, including his twin sisters, Janet and Jana, who were born 22 months after him. "My sisters! The Twins! I love them both so much," Leslie wrote in the caption. "We lost our daddy in service to this amazing country when I was 11 and they were 9. We’ve been through so much together, but now it seems like smooth sailing ahead!"
Throughout his career, Leslie often credited his sisters as his biggest inspirations. In fact, in October 2016, he revealed on Facebook that his character Cricket Marlowe from American Horror Story: Roanoke was a tribute to Jana, whose nickname happens to be 'Cricket.'
When the pandemic hit, Leslie became a beacon of joy for millions with his hilarious Instagram videos and skits. He often joked about how his family had shaped his fun-loving personality.
"I love being by myself," Leslie told People in January 2021. "I think that has a lot to do with my twin sisters. Growing up, they were so close, and then there was me. I played by myself a lot. I’m a quiet person and very much a loner. But today, I’m more comfortable with who I am than ever. Every day is like gravy."
Tragically, in April 2022, Leslie announced on Instagram that his beloved sister Janet had passed away. His tribute to her was both heartbreaking and heartfelt.
"The world lost a great person today, and I lost a sister and a best friend," Leslie wrote. "But I have peace knowing she and Daddy are together again. Janet Ann courageously fought death, but I prefer to remember the way she lived. This world will be a duller place without her."
