Anderson here. Let’s talk about something heartfelt and real. Hilaria Baldwin, the incredible wife of Alec Baldwin, has been sharing her raw and honest journey as she works to regain her strength and health after experiencing a miscarriage. It’s a story of resilience, self-care, and understanding the complexities of the body and mind. She’s been candid about how her body feels "confused" about moving forward without the baby she was expecting. Can you imagine what that must feel like? It’s not just physical—it’s emotional, too. And Hilaria is leaning into it with grace and determination.
Her Body’s Reaction: A Journey of Healing
Hilaria recently opened up about her experience in a heartfelt Instagram post. She shared that even though she’s had four children before this miscarriage, her body still reacts strongly to pregnancy. “I started looking pregnant even before you can take a test,” she joked, adding a laugh emoji for a touch of lightness in a tough situation. But there’s more to it than just appearances. The swelling in her belly has mostly gone down, but she still feels weak. Why? Because her body still has relaxin—a hormone that prepares the body for childbirth. It’s like her body doesn’t know whether to reset or keep preparing, and that can be confusing and exhausting.
View this post on InstagramThis recent pregnancy didn’t last more than a couple of months, but my body did change, and after miscarriage, I’m getting myself back into my non-pregnant shape. We talk so often about how to get our bodies back after baby….but what if there was no baby? Right away, when we get pregnant, our bodies begin preparing for the next 9 months. And when it ends abruptly, our body is a bit confused. I have had four children before this miscarriage, so I start looking pregnant even before you can take a test 😂. The swelling in my belly has mostly gone down, but I still feel a bit weak…I still have relaxin in my body. I am really focusing on my core and pelvic floor right now. In these exercises, I’m engaging my transverse abdominis (seatbelt like muscle…think about where that “spare tire” resides…I hate calling it that, but it gets the message across). This exercise should not be done if you have diastasis recti. it is sped up to fit it all in. So go slower than me. 💛5 mini push-ups on knees 💛5 second holding forearm plank 💛5 mini pushups (if you’re up for it, try it off your knees…you don’t need to bend the elbows very much) 💛10 runs in forearm plank. 💛5 second Stretch tummy out #letsmove2019

Getting Back in Shape: A Personalized Approach
Hilaria, who’s 35, didn’t just sit back and let her body figure it out on its own. Instead, she’s taking control of her recovery through exercise. In her Instagram post, she shared a video of herself doing some gentle but effective moves like mini pushups and forearm planks. She explained that she’s focusing on strengthening her core and pelvic floor, which are crucial areas after pregnancy—whether or not the baby arrives. She’s engaging her transverse abdominis, which she humorously refers to as the “seatbelt-like muscle.” It’s the one that people often call a “spare tire,” though Hilaria isn’t a fan of that term. “This exercise isn’t for everyone,” she cautioned. If you have diastasis recti, where the muscles in your abdomen separate, you should avoid this routine. And remember, the video is sped up, so don’t rush through it. Take your time and do what feels right for your body.
Emotional Healing Alongside Physical Recovery
Hilaria hasn’t just been sharing her physical recovery journey. Since announcing her miscarriage, she’s been incredibly open with her fans about how she’s coping emotionally. In another Instagram post, she reassured her followers, saying, “Since so many of you have been asking, I want to tell you that I am doing well.” She’s embracing the belief that every life, no matter how brief, leaves behind positivity. It’s a powerful way of finding meaning in something so heartbreaking. She’s also using humor to keep things light, like when she posted a fun bunny-themed photo series, labeling herself as everything from “Crabby Bunny” to “Fabulosa Bunny.” It’s a reminder that even in tough times, there’s room for joy and laughter.
