It seems like the entertainment world is buzzing with talk about a possible reboot of the beloved show 'Frasier.' Fans are wondering if Kelsey Grammer's iconic character, Dr. Frasier Crane, will grace our screens once again. And guess what? Bebe Neuwirth, who famously portrayed Frasier's ex-wife, Lilith Sternin, is not only aware of the chatter but also open to the idea.
When we caught up with the talented 60-year-old actress at the nomination ceremony for the 73rd annual Tony Awards on April 30, she had a lot to say. "No, I just see lots of chatter about it! I don’t know anything," Bebe exclusively told Closer Weekly. "I haven’t heard anything personally." Despite the lack of official updates, it's clear that the idea of a reboot is gaining traction, and Bebe seems intrigued.
Bebe Neuwirth: A Star in Her Own Right

Bebe Neuwirth is no stranger to accolades, having won two Tony Awards for her work on Broadway. Her journey with the 'Frasier' universe began when she joined 'Cheers' in 1986, where she initially played Frasier’s girlfriend and later his wife, Lilith Sternin. Her role continued into 'Frasier,' where she often reprised her character alongside their onscreen child, Frederick, played by Trevor Einhorn.

Bebe's portrayal of Lilith earned her not one but two Emmy Awards during her time on 'Cheers.' However, her transition to 'Frasier' brought her only a single Emmy nomination, which speaks volumes about the challenging yet rewarding journey she experienced with both shows.
Kelsey Grammer: The Heart of 'Frasier'
When it comes to Kelsey Grammer, Bebe's admiration is palpable. "Every time I looked in his eyes, he’s just the greatest," she reminisces about working with him. "Kelsey's ability to bring Frasier to life was nothing short of extraordinary. His portrayal was so nuanced, so layered, it was a joy to watch him work."
Bebe's respect for Kelsey isn't just about his acting chops; it's also about his leadership and vision. "If there's anyone who can make a reboot work, it's Kelsey," she adds. "He has an incredible sense of the characters and the world they inhabit."
Rebooting 'Frasier': A Delicate Balance
As for whether Bebe would be open to a reboot, her response is thoughtful and measured. "Sure, but reboots are tricky because the original is so fine," she explains. "You can't just replicate what was done before. If you’re going to do it, it better be really phenomenal."
Bebe places immense trust in Kelsey's judgment. "I do trust Kelsey, though, and his taste and his intelligence," she says with confidence. "If he decides to take on a reboot, I’m sure he’ll do it really, really well. He'll find a way to honor the original while bringing something fresh and exciting to the table. Absolutely."

Bebe's confidence extends beyond Kelsey to the brilliant writing team behind 'Frasier,' including creators David Angell, Peter Casey, and David Lee, as well as Glen Charles and Les Charles. "I trust those writers," she shares. "They took my character, Lilith, and turned her into something so much more than I ever imagined."

Her admiration for the writers is clear. "From the moment my character walked into the bar on 'Cheers,' I never would have imagined where she'd go," Bebe reflects. "But they were the greatest writers in TV comedies. It was brilliant. All of their choices were brilliant. I'd leave it up to them to decide what Lilith would be up to these days."
As the entertainment world continues to speculate, it seems like it’s only a matter of time until 'Frasier' makes its way back to our screens. Fans are hopeful, and with Bebe Neuwirth's positive outlook, the anticipation is only growing.
