Thanks to Ramin Setoodeh’s book, Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View, we've been given a behind-the-scenes look at the drama involving current and former co-hosts of the ABC program. Among them, Jenny McCarthy has been particularly candid about her experience, likening her firing to a shocking scene from Game of Thrones.
McCarthy Recalls the Mass Firing on 'The View'
During a recent episode of her SiriusXM radio show, the 46-year-old McCarthy revealed a surprising twist in her time on The View. She spoke about a mass firing that included herself, co-host Sherri Shepherd, and long-time producer Bill Geddie. "I love Bill. Bill is someone that I think sometimes got a really bad rap," McCarthy expressed, defending the producer who was unceremoniously let go.

The Red Wedding at 'The View'
McCarthy described the incident as "The Red Wedding at The View," referring to one of the most shocking moments in Game of Thrones. She recounted how around 17 people were let go that day, including Bill and five other producers. "It was a lot of people... I felt so bad for Sherri and Bill, my heart broke for them," McCarthy said. "To watch someone like Bill be shoved out the door after creating the show with Barbara [Walters]... the way they handled pretty much anyone’s firing was, I think, unprofessional. Terribly unprofessional," she added.

Deception and Broken Promises
As a judge on The Masked Singer, McCarthy wasn't pleased with how ABC allegedly handled her departure. Toward the end of the season, she received offers for other shows, prompting her agent to inquire about her future at The View. "They said, 'Yeah, she’s fine, we’re going to bring her back, we love her.' It was all a lie, it was all a lie so we wouldn’t take the next job," McCarthy revealed. She felt betrayed by the deception, especially given her personal circumstances. "I’m a single mother with a special needs kid. Not that that’s a reason to keep anybody, but to keep me away from getting other work when I have other TV offers and I turn them down is really s**tty," McCarthy bluntly stated.
