It’s been a tough week for Marie Osmond, but she’s using her voice to honor a cherished friend. Just days after announcing the passing of Kim Goodwin, a dear friend and colleague, Marie dedicated a deeply personal song to him during her performance at the Flamingo Resort in Las Vegas. It wasn’t just any song—it was one that carried immense emotional weight for her.
A Special Song with a Painful History
Standing on stage, Marie, 59, addressed the audience with raw vulnerability. “The last time I sang this, I lost my son,” she revealed, referring to her son Michael Blosil, who tragically took his own life at the age of 19 in 2010. Her words hung heavy in the air as she continued, “Tonight, I want to sing it again because there’s a very special person in the audience tonight, and that’s Kim Goodwin’s mom, Miko. We love you, Miko.”
Marie’s voice carried the weight of grief and love as she performed the song, creating an emotional connection with everyone in the room. It was more than a tribute; it was a shared moment of healing.

A Personal Moment Shared with Fans
On Sunday, April 21, Marie shared the heartwarming video on Instagram, where it quickly gained traction, reaching nearly 20,000 views by the time of publication. In her caption, she explained why this moment meant so much to her. “I am posting because it has great meaning to me,” she wrote. “Knowing how hard it is to lose a child, I hoped it would bring some comfort and joy to Miko, knowing how much we all loved her Kimmy.”
Her words resonated with fans, who flooded the comments section with messages of support and admiration for her courage and compassion.
The Song That Bridged Hearts
The song Marie chose for the tribute was “Somewhere” from West Side Story. Known for its timeless melody and hopeful lyrics, “Somewhere” has been covered by legends like The Supremes, Barbra Streisand, and Phil Collins. Sometimes referred to as “Somewhere (There’s a Place for Us)” or simply “There’s a Place for Us,” the song became a fitting tribute to Kim.
Marie elaborated on her feelings about the song in her Instagram post. “While I was introducing the song, I said, ‘The most important part of this song is knowing I will see him again,’” she shared. Her sentiment echoed through the hearts of those who listened, reminding everyone of the power of music to transcend grief.

Brother Donny Joins in Remembrance
Kim wasn’t just special to Marie; he also held a dear place in the heart of her brother, Donny Osmond. Following Kim’s passing, Donny took to Instagram to express his sorrow. “I am heartbroken to inform you that my friend Kim Goodwin passed away on Sunday afternoon,” he wrote. “Kim started out as our hair and makeup guru and eventually became like family to us.”
Donny recalled their final moments together, saying, “I was able to spend some time with Kim last Wednesday. Even though he was quite ill and bedridden, we laughed and joked about all of the great memories we’ve shared over the years.”
He went on to celebrate Kim’s incredible talent and impact. “Kim was unbelievably talented. Not only did he do our hair and makeup, but he prepared all of our publicity shots—even the building wraps on the Flamingo,” Donny remembered fondly. “He was loved and adored by everyone he worked with. Our entire cast and crew will miss him dearly. Godspeed, my dear friend Kim. #RIP #UntilWeMeetAgain.”
