Let's talk about Ben Affleck's bold move to embrace his ink. The guy's been living life unbothered by critics, but when Ellen DeGeneres brought up his massive phoenix back tattoo, he didn’t shy away from defending it. Now, let's dive into how this conversation went down.

Ellen Calls Out Ben's Tattoo

During Ben’s appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on March 14, Ellen, 61, didn’t mince words. She brought up the photo of Ben's tattoo that sparked quite a bit of attention. “There was a photo of your back tattoo that got a lot of attention,” Ellen told Ben, 46. With a laugh, the Gone Girl star admitted the response wasn’t exactly glowing. Ellen playfully referred to the tattoo as "a commitment," and Ben couldn’t help but agree.

The Tattoo's Story

As Ben began to explain the significance of the multi-colored phoenix rising from the ashes, Ellen couldn’t resist a little humor. She quipped that the phoenix was "rising from your a–." Ben, ever the quick thinker, acknowledged the joke and added, “It’s a phoenix, rising from my a–. I was about to say it represents something really important to me, but maybe, just, we’ll skip that.”

Putting aside all the jokes, Ben opened up about the deep meaning behind his tattoo. “It’s meaningful to me, I like it. It’s something that I sort of kept private. It wasn’t like I was doing photo shoots or anything,” he explained. “We didn’t know the paparazzi was there, so they got a picture of my tattoo, and yeah, the sentiment ran against.” The Argo star proudly added, “I love my tattoo. I’m very happy with it.”

Now, Ben first faced criticism for the tattoo back in March 2016 when he told Extra TV that the phoenix was "fake for a movie." However, two years later, the tattoo was still there. So, what gives? Click the link below to see Ben defend his giant back tattoo!

    J.Lo's Take on Ben's Ink

Before Ben claimed it was fake, his ex-fiancée, Jennifer Lopez, had her own opinion about the bold tattoo. “It’s awful!” J.Lo, who recently became engaged, admitted to Watch What Happens: Live! host Andy Cohen in March 2016. She recalled telling Ben, “What are you doing?” and added, “It has too many colors! His tattoos always have too many colors. They shouldn’t be so colorful, you know what I mean? They should be, like, cooler.”
