Hey there, TV fans! If you’ve ever found yourself reminiscing about those classic episodes of The Nanny, you’re in for a treat. NBC has just announced that Fran Drescher, the one and only, is set to star in their new comedy pilot Uninsured. Alongside a talented cast that includes Adam Pally, Abby Elliott, Jessy Hodges, and Amer Chadha-Patel, Fran is bringing her signature wit and charm to this fresh new series. It’s like the gang’s all back together, but with a modern twist!
Meet Linda: Fran Drescher's Latest Role
In Uninsured, Fran steps into the role of Linda, a loving mother and grandmother who’s as much about family as she is about reminding everyone she’s from Brooklyn. Can you picture her strutting into a room, ready to dish out wisdom and sass in equal measure? That’s Linda for you. The show, which will be filmed in front of a live studio audience, follows the story of young parents Dave (Adam Pally) and Rebecca (Abby Elliott). When Dave’s parents find themselves drowning in debt due to poor financial decisions, the young couple has no choice but to take them in. Talk about a blended family drama!

Of course, Fran isn’t new to the world of comedy or TV. Besides her iconic role as Fran Fine in The Nanny, she’s graced our screens with her presence in TV Land’s Happily Divorced. Her voice brings the character of Eunice to life in the Hotel Transylvania franchise, and she’s even authored three books. Yet, despite all these accomplishments, she’s taken a step back from the spotlight in recent years. Why? Well, as Fran herself explained to Variety, it’s all about finding balance.
Fran's Journey: Embracing Fame and Finding Peace
“For the first time in my life,” Fran shared, “I feel relaxed and comfortable. I’ve made it, I’m here, and I can finally take a breath. I don’t have to push myself so hard all the time. I can step off that hamster wheel and enjoy the life I’ve worked so hard to build. It’s a new chapter for me, honestly. I’ve reached a point where I accept that I am famous, and that’s okay. I can take breaks, relax, and still come back when I’m ready to create something new. My fans are incredibly loyal, and I stay active on social media. Plus, I continue to support my organization, Cancer Schmancer, which is such an important part of who I am.”
This shift in perspective didn’t happen overnight. Fran revealed that it came from learning to truly live the way others do, without that constant inner voice craving attention. “I have dear loved ones who are now in their eighties,” she reflected. “I remember when they were my age, and I asked my then-husband, ‘How many good years do we really have?’ At some point, we’ll start feeling tired, and we won’t want to travel as much. So while I still feel young and capable, I want to fully embrace life—to inhale it, devour it, and experience it. It’s about making the most of every moment.”
