Kelly Ripa Speaks Out on the College Admissions Scandal
After the shocking indictment of Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin in the infamous college admissions cheating scandal, Kelly Ripa opened up about the situation during the latest episode of Live! With Kelly and Ryan on Tuesday, March 12. The news sent ripples through the entertainment world, and Kelly wasn’t shy about sharing her thoughts with her audience.
“Let me level with you. As a parent who’s been through the college application process twice already, I can tell you that test-taking is a nightmare,” Kelly, 48, shared with the audience. “It’s exhausting—for the student, the parents, and everyone involved. Especially if you’re my kids’ tutor, you must be exhausted too. You look at this and think, ‘If you can afford a tutor, you already have a leg up.’”
Kelly's Take on the Scandal

As a proud mother of three—Michael Consuelos, 21, Lola Consuelos, 17, and Joaquin Consuelos, 16—Kelly was deeply affected by the alleged cheating scandal involving Lori and Felicity. “This whole scandal is such a shame,” she said. “It’s taking away the opportunity for kids to achieve on their own merit. I’m so relieved this scandal broke after my kids went through the college application process because, honestly, my daughter would’ve been like, ‘Hey, can you call that guy?’”

College Isn’t the Only Path to Success
Kelly acknowledged that college tuition in America isn’t exactly pocket change, but she insists that success isn’t limited to attending an Ivy League school. “Listen, there are so many paths to success,” she explained. “But sometimes it’s tough to convince my kids how important higher education is when I didn’t go to college myself.”

“I didn’t go to college, so I always feel weird saying this,” Kelly admitted. “It’s a fine line I walk with my kids all the time because they’ll look at me and say, ‘But you didn’t go to college.’ But here’s the thing—it’s all about hard work and a little bit of luck.”
