Engagement Plans Delayed by the Pandemic
At 47, Colin is no stranger to life’s twists and turns, but even he wasn’t prepared for the unexpected roadblocks brought on by the global pandemic. "Technically, we would be engaged by now," he reveals with a mix of humor and frustration. Life had other plans, though, as Colin’s travel arrangements to bring Aline from Brazil to the United States were derailed. "I was all set to fly down there, meet her family, and pop the question. But then, mid-March, my flight got canceled due to the outbreak. It was such a blow, but we’re resilient," he shares.
Colin remains optimistic, though, and he’s still planning to make the trip happen. "I’m hoping to get down there sometime in July," he says with determination. "That’s the reality we’re dealing with, but we’re determined to make it work." The couple’s love isn’t going to be stopped by anything, not even a global health crisis.

Connecting Through Quarantine
While the pandemic may have delayed their big moment, it hasn’t stopped Colin and Aline from finding creative ways to stay connected. "We’ve been watching movies together on FaceTime and WhatsApp," Colin shares with a smile. "It’s been surprisingly great because it’s forced us to connect on a deeper level. Without the physical distractions, we’ve had the chance to really get to know each other even better." This quarantine period has brought them closer in ways they might not have experienced otherwise.
Colin also reflects on how their journey together has been a long and winding road. The two first met while working on the set of Open Road back in 2012. They dated on and off for the next nine years, but life had other plans. "Distance was a real challenge," Colin admits. "Aline had to move to New York for her career, and I stayed in L.A. It was tough, but we managed to keep things alive."
A Rekindled Flame
Things took a turn for the better at the end of 2019 when Aline’s previous relationship ended. "We started talking again, and it was like no time had passed," Colin recalls fondly. "I went to Brazil to celebrate my birthday with her in February. It was magical. It felt like we’d never been apart." Their reconnection has been nothing short of serendipitous, and Colin is grateful for every moment they’ve shared.
