Here's the big question buzzing around the entertainment world: Will the Reagan family reunite on our screens with a brand-new season of 'Blue Bloods'? Just two months after the season 14 finale aired, CBS dropped some exciting news that’s got fans talking.
Will There Be a Season 15 of 'Blue Bloods'?
Alright, let’s get real here. CBS has officially announced that 'Blue Bloods' won’t be coming back for a season 15. But hold onto your hats because there's a twist. They're cooking up an offshoot set to premiere during the 2025-2026 broadcast season. So while the original series is wrapping up, it seems the Reagan family saga isn’t entirely over.
Season 14 started rolling out its final episodes in October 2024. Let me tell you, no one was more heartbroken than the cast and crew of 'Blue Bloods' when they found out there wouldn’t be a season 15. But even as the curtain fell on season 14, a couple of the show's stars were still holding onto a shred of hope that the series might get picked up by another network.

Cast member Abigail Hawk shared her thoughts with Screen Time, saying, “Of course, we’re sad, but you never know. The set might be gone, but with the talent and expertise we have in this industry, rebuilding something like that would be a breeze if the opportunity arose.”
And she didn’t stop there. “So, yeah, there’s still a tiny glimmer of hope. I’m hanging onto it because, as they say, hope can move mountains,” she added.
Even Tom Selleck felt the sting of the cancellation. Abigail reflected, “Tom’s memoir is titled 'You Never Know,' and that sums it up. There’s a void left by our show, and I truly believe that in time, the higher-ups will regret letting it go.”

Abigail Hawk believes there are still plenty of stories left to tell in the world of 'Blue Bloods.' “That’s what makes these characters so compelling. Life goes on, and there’s so much more to explore,” she said.
An Exciting Offshoot: 'Boston Blue'
In February 2025, CBS announced that Donnie Wahlberg, Tom Selleck’s on-screen son, would star in a 'Blue Bloods' spin-off titled 'Boston Blue.'
“'BOSTON BLUE' expands the universe of the long-running hit drama 'BLUE BLOODS.' In this new series, Wahlberg reprises his role as NYPD officer Danny Reagan, who takes a new position with the Boston PD. Once in Boston, he teams up with detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family,” according to the official press release.

It’s unclear at this point whether any other 'Blue Bloods' stars will make guest appearances on the new show.
When Did 'Blue Bloods' Season 14 Finale Air?
The series finale of 'Blue Bloods' aired on December 13, 2024. In this emotional episode, the Reagan family joined forces to take down a dangerous gang leader wreaking havoc in New York City. Tragically, Officer Luis Badillo was killed in the line of duty, and the NYPD gathered at his funeral to honor him. On a brighter note, Jamie Reagan and Eddie Janko-Reagan announced they were expecting a baby during a family dinner at the end of the episode.
What Show Replaced 'Blue Bloods' in the Friday Night CBS Lineup?
CBS decided to fill the Friday, 10 p.m. time slot with S.W.A.T., starring Shemar Moore, starting in January 2025. The show is currently in its eighth season and will continue to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
What's Next for the 'Blue Bloods' Cast?
With 'Blue Bloods' being such a monumental part of their lives, fans are curious to see what the cast will do next as Donnie gears up for his new series. Tom Selleck hinted at a possible return to his popular Jesse Stone character. Fans have been clamoring for another movie in that franchise.
“It seems like now might be the time to write a new script,” Tom told TV Insider in October 2024. “It wouldn’t be the final chapter because everyone loves Jesse Stone. It would be exciting to see where he is years down the road. But first, I need to take a breather. Assuming the phone keeps ringing, I’ll keep working.”
Of course, Donnie will be fully immersed in continuing the 'Blue Bloods' legacy with his new series, 'Boston Blue.' Stay tuned to see where this journey takes the beloved Reagan family next!
