Hey there, HGTV fans! If you’ve been following the Napier family and their charming show 'Home Town,' you’re going to love this! Erin and Ben Napier have announced that a beloved former cast member will be making a triumphant return for the third season of their spin-off series, Home Town Takeover. This news is sure to spark excitement among all the loyal fans who have followed their journey through the world of renovations and heartfelt community projects.
Who’s Coming Back to the 'Home Town' Family?
Drumroll, please! It's none other than Jonathan Walters, the ever-popular project manager who worked closely with Erin and Ben in the early seasons of 'Home Town.' During a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Erin and Ben hinted at a special reunion, teasing that “someone from Home Town past” would be joining the cast for the upcoming season of Home Town Takeover. This season will take place in the picturesque city of Sebring, Florida, where Jonathan will lend his expertise to help transform the community through their signature renovations.
Erin couldn’t contain her excitement during the interview, saying, “The real Home Town fans are going to be very excited to see someone who is a part of Takeover season 3.” And she wasn’t wrong! Shortly after the announcement, she posted a photo on Instagram revealing Jonathan's return, and the comments section lit up with fans expressing their joy and nostalgia for the fan-favorite figure. One fan even wrote, “Can’t wait! We miss seeing Jonathan!!” capturing the sentiment of many others.

Why Did Jonathan Walters Leave 'Home Town' in the First Place?
Back in 2019, fans were surprised to learn that Jonathan wouldn’t be returning for season 4 of Home Town. Erin broke the news with an emotional Instagram post, sharing a carousel of photos that captured their time together. She wrote, “He’s been our project manager on #hgtvhometown since the very first episode. The bearer of bad news + the solution opportunist and, apparently, according to Twitter, the heartthrob of Home Town (sorry ladies, he’s married).”
Erin went on to explain that Jonathan was moving on to new opportunities in Florida, the place where he grew up. “He’s leaving us for greener pastures (sunnier shores?) in Florida and tonight we said goodbye for now. We’ve been having dinner dates at Tabella since the show began. Ugh. We hate goodbyes, y’all.”

When Jonathan left, Erin introduced Chase and Katie as the new project managers, praising their ability to step into his shoes. In a November 2019 Laurel Mercantile blog post, she wrote, “Our new project managers, Chase and Katie, have been champs at managing the TV construction learning curve. As leaders on the show, it’s our job to all work together and make sure these houses happen on time and we’ve nailed it on the first 8 out of 16. I can’t wait for you to meet Chase and Katie!”
Jonathan, meanwhile, embraced a new chapter in his life, joining Royal Corinthian Homes, a company specializing in custom home construction. His return to the 'Home Town' franchise is generating buzz among fans, who are eager to see his skilled contributions to the renovations in Sebring, Florida. This season promises to be filled with nostalgia and fresh energy as Jonathan joins forces with Erin and Ben once again.
