She's won an Academy Award, but even so, Anne Hathaway admits she's not entirely proud of her attempt to mimic Rebel Wilson's Australian accent in their latest film, The Hustle. It's a candid admission from someone who's spent years perfecting her craft, showing us all that even the most accomplished actors can have self-doubts.
Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph, the 36-year-old actress opened up about a scene in the movie where she pokes fun at her co-star's character, Penny Rust. "I do feel I need to apologize to Australia," Anne said, laughing but sincere. "In that scene, my character is so annoyed with Rebel's character that she ends up doing this really broad, exaggerated Australian accent. It was all in good fun, but I know I didn’t get it quite right."
A Scene That Had Everyone Talking

In the movie, released on May 11, Anne plays Josephine Chesterfield. Despite her character's Australian roots, Anne admits she didn't put as much effort into perfecting the accent as she might have. "I really gave it my all, but looking back, I know I could have done better," she confessed. It's a refreshing honesty from someone who has been in the industry for close to two decades.

A Career Full of Challenges
Even with her vast experience, Anne isn't shy about acknowledging her struggles. "I made so many mistakes early on," she admitted in a past interview with People. Back when her career was just taking off, Anne revealed she often felt inadequate, insecure, and overwhelmed with anxiety. "I was constantly second-guessing myself," she said. But over time, she's learned to focus on the positives and move forward.
She recounted how, a decade ago, the pressure of awards season left her feeling anxious and unsure. "I was so scared, I barely ate anything during Christmas," she shared. Yet, she's come a long way since then, learning to embrace the highs and lows of her career.
From Awards to Motherhood

Despite the challenges, Anne's career has flourished, highlighted by her Oscar win for Les Misérables. Off-screen, she's also a devoted mother to her son, Jonathan, with husband Adam Shulman. "I try to be kind to myself, especially as a mom," she said. "I don’t dwell on guilt unless I absolutely have to. Life’s too short for that."
