Matthew Morrison Kids: 'Glee' Star Talks Being a Dad to Son Revel

There’s something truly special about a dad who can balance being a Hollywood star and a present father. Matthew Morrison, known for his roles in Glee, Grey’s Anatomy, and Finding Neverland, has stepped into the role of fatherhood with grace and enthusiasm. He’s not just any dad—he’s the kind of dad every kid dreams of having.

From Stage to Parenthood: Matthew Morrison’s Journey

When you think about Matthew Morrison, the first thing that probably comes to mind is his incredible talent as an actor and singer. But these days, his life revolves around something far more precious—his son, Revel James Makai Morrison. Revel, now a vibrant toddler, was born on October 12, 2017, to Matthew and his wife, Renee Puente. Speaking exclusively to Closer Weekly at the Hello Tushy’s Funeral For a Tree event in New York City, Matthew opened up about how fatherhood has transformed him. “He’s great! He’s amazing!” he exclaimed, adding that Revel has taught him valuable lessons about patience and time management.

    Learning the Meaning of Love

Matthew’s journey into fatherhood hasn’t just been about learning new skills or adjusting his schedule—it’s been a profound emotional experience. “More than anything, it’s opened my eyes to really knowing what the word ‘love’ means,” he shared. “My heart is outside of my body now—it’s living in him. It’s a joy.” That kind of love isn’t something you can fake. It’s raw, real, and deeply moving.

Planning for the Future: More Kids?

When asked if he and Renee are considering expanding their family, Matthew didn’t hesitate. “Absolutely,” he said with a smile. The couple has found common ground on this topic after some good-natured debate. Matthew, an only child, initially thought one child would be enough. Renee, on the other hand, comes from a family of six siblings and has always dreamed of a larger brood. They’ve compromised on two kids. “Two is good,” Matthew joked. “I don’t know why people are having so many kids!”

Matthew isn’t shy about advocating for dads everywhere. He wants to see more fathers stepping up and being active participants in their children’s lives. He shared a story about an Italian friend whose husband refuses to change diapers, leaving it all to her simply because she’s the woman. Matthew doesn’t agree with that mindset. In fact, he loves changing Revel’s diaper. “It makes me feel more connected with him and keeps me in tune with what he’s been eating,” he explained. “I am a master of poo now.” Talk about dedication!

    Handling Parenting Challenges Together

Like any parent, Matthew and Renee face their share of challenges. One recent milestone involves weaning Revel off breastfeeding at night. Renee hasn’t been sleeping well because Revel climbs all over her. To solve this, Renee sleeps in another room while Matthew takes the night shift with Revel. “The first couple of nights were tough,” Matthew admitted. “He was crying and screaming, but now we’ve found a rhythm. He gets on me, bummed that I don’t have a boob, but he still lays on me anyway. It’s beautiful and feels like we’re connecting.”

Matthew Morrison isn’t just a talented performer; he’s a dad who’s fully invested in his son’s life. He’s proof that love, patience, and a sense of humor can make all the difference in the world of parenthood.
