Speaking to The Mirror, Elton emphasized, "Family is the most important thing. I just owe it to those children to be there for them." While his sons have seen him perform live, Elton makes a conscious effort to keep his stage persona separate from his home life. "They know what their daddy does, but I never bring Elton home," he confessed. "They love their daddy’s music, but they also like a lot of other people’s music, so they’re quite grounded as far as that goes." This balance between his public and private life is something Elton holds dear, and it's a theme we're sure to explore in his upcoming book.
