Alyssa Farah Griffin, one of the beloved co-hosts of The View, recently opened up about her deeply personal IVF journey with her husband, Justin Griffin. In a candid conversation during an episode of The View’s “Behind the Table” podcast on December 2, Alyssa shared her journey with remarkable openness. “My husband and I have been trying to start a family for about a year and a half now,” she explained. “When it became clear that things weren’t happening naturally, we decided to take the next step and pursue IVF. This is actually my second cycle, and tomorrow I’ll be back at the doctor’s office, dealing with all the emotions and uncertainties that come with it.”
Alyssa went on to explain why she felt it was important to share her story. “There are a couple of reasons I wanted to talk about this openly,” she said. “When I started this journey, I had no idea how tough it would be, especially at my age. I’m only 35, and I thought, ‘I’ve got plenty of time. This shouldn’t be that hard.’ I’ve always taken care of myself—I work out, eat well, and stay healthy—but my body just wasn’t cooperating. It’s been humbling, to say the least.”

Hope on the Horizon
Despite the challenges, Alyssa remains optimistic about the future. “I want to offer hope to anyone going through something similar,” she emphasized. “There is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel, even if we don’t know exactly when it will arrive for us. Science has come so far, and I’m truly amazed by what it can do.”
She also shared how supportive her fellow View co-hosts have been throughout this process. “My castmates have been incredible,” Alyssa said. “Sara Haines has been a rock for me—her support has meant the world. And Sunny Hostin? She’s been through her own journey with infertility, so she understands what I’m going through in a way that’s incredibly comforting.”
The Reality of IVF
Alyssa revealed just how much this process has consumed her life, even during high-pressure moments. “I actually gave myself IVF injections at midnight at CNN on election night while working until four in the morning,” she admitted. “At first, I thought I was handling everything pretty well. No tears, no meltdowns, no hormonal swings. But as I entered my second cycle, everything changed. I’ve been a wreck—tired, emotional, uncomfortable in my own skin. It’s been tough.”
She explained that she wanted to share her experience because the stories we often hear about IVF tend to come from women who have already succeeded. “You know those stories where someone says, ‘Oh, yeah, here’s my beautiful baby, and it was just a little hard to get here?’” Alyssa remarked. “I wanted to share my story because I know there are so many women out there struggling right now. There is hope, and it’s important to stay present in the process, even when it feels overwhelming.”
Alyssa and Justin’s Journey
Alyssa and Justin have been married since 2021, and their journey to parenthood has been nothing short of emotional. During a September 2023 episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg playfully asked Alyssa if she was pregnant. Her response was both hilarious and relatable. “No! Oh my god. No,” Alyssa exclaimed, covering her face with her hands. “You can’t say that when my mother-in-law is here, dying for me to get pregnant! Why? Do I look pregnant?” Whoopi simply laughed and replied, “Yes! I just got a vibe.”
